This year I held a contest for the 5th grade. It was inspired by the actual Post-It War that originated in the high-rise office buildings of France. Companies would post images in their windows and the building across the street would participate- each attempting to come up with the coolest design- thus the Post-It War was born.

I have three 5th grade classes and I asked the students to form teams of 2-4 (yes I let them choose their own groups). Each team had to come up with their own design and map out their idea using grid paper. It was a great project to discuss griding and proportions! Then the following class period we spent in the library putting up our designs. Each team had their own window.

Here are the 24 designs that were created. I had the rest of the school (K-4 classrooms and all staff) vote for their favorite design. The designs will be announced on the last day of school at our assembly! I'm so excited to finally let everyone know the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams!
