My kinders and first graders have been studying the wonderfully creative fish in Dr. Seuss's book, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. We read the book and talked about the different styles of fish. I demonstrated how to draw a side view of a fish and how to draw an upright full view of a fish. Then the students practiced drawing both types and chose their favorite for their final drawing.
Last week we painted the background and drew the fish, and this week they got to paint their fish. They are so colorful and beautiful! We will finish the project by cutting out our fish, gluing them on the striped background and adding details and lines with black cray-pas. I found this lesson on Deep Space Sparkle. You can view the steps and directions in more detail on her blog; http://www.deepspacesparkle.com/2010/02/12/dr-seuss-day-one-fish-two-fish-art/
I can't wait to see the finished products!
So cute! Looks like the kids had some fun. Thanks for linking!
